ClimaTech Run is a Global Competition for tech-startups and digital artists addressing the most pressing climate challenges on the road to COP27.

Young people across the world, and particularly members of Generation Z, have an unprecedented power to use technology and their force of creativity to spark climate solutions. A global sentiment calls for new climate stories and narrative that connects us to earth while reflecting the values and views of the world’s youth.

Egypt's Ministry of International Cooperation, the Ministry of Environment and the Ministry of Communication and Information Technology are joining forces with USAID, Afreximbank, the World Food Programme (WFP), Google, the United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA), General Motors, the United Nations Industrial Development Organization (UNIDO), UNDP Accelerator Lab, Microsoft, and other partners from the private sector and the entrepreneurial community to launch ‘ClimaTech Run’.

Why ClimaTech Run?

ClimaTech Run is a global multi-stage program of tech entrepreneurs and digital artists who share a collective passion for sustainability to present their work at COP27.

From matchmaking opportunities to mentorship and capacity-building programs, tech entrepreneurs and digital artists will be granted a splendid chance to step on the stage and present their best work at COP27. There will also be special prizes for the winners, including a grand prize of USD 100,000 and a top African Startup of USD 50,000 for African entrepreneurs.

ClimaTech Run Tracks

In the Fusion of culture with technology, the competition has two tracks: ClimaTech Run's track is for tech startups, and the ClimaTech Run's track for digital artists (DigitalArt4Climate).

ClimaTech Run extends from August 22nd to September 22nd to create a globally connected ecosystem that fuels inspiration and joy for climate action through worldwide live events and webinars.

The application for both tracks closes on September 22nd.

Ten tech startups will be shortlisted throughout the filtration process and invited to pitch during COP27 in November in Sharm El Sheikh.

Public voting for the digital art track will take place from October 6th to October 20th 2022 to select the best three artistic expressions from a shortlist of art pieces curated and qualified by expert judges.
